It’s pretty much well known fact that environment friendly products are in high demand because of government regulations and greater consumer awareness of environmental issues. Doing laundry, the most common household activity has followed the same directions too. In fact the programmed and automated cleaning by washing machines beating hand wash method itself is getting obsolete day by day. If you observe well, you would see saponification method (by soapy agent) has also been replaced by dry cleaning process. Moreover the drying process in a fuel or electricity driven dryer is no more practised anywhere.
Think if you can clean your clothes without water and that also been done by someone else. Yes, in dry cleaning process all the garments are immersed and cleaned in a liquid solvent. This is the mixture of two volatile synthetic solvents called perchlorethylene (perc). The advantages are: dry cleaning needs less massive equipment, reduced floor space, can be installed in retail locations and process time is very quick maintaining excellent quality.
The process follows a particular pattern as follows: 1) Tagging Inspection 2) Pre-treatment of stains 3) Dry cleaning 4) Post-spotting 5) Finishing. Dry cleaning machines of all brands are basically the same in principle and function. The machine generally contains from 20 to 100 pounds of clothes or fabric in a rotary, perforated stainless-steel basket. It acts as washer, extractor, and dryer all in the same machine.
While clothes rotate in the perforated basket, a constant flow of clean solvent from the pump and filter system is run through. With in the basket the immersed clothes are gently dropped and pounded against baffles in the cylinder. The dirty solvent is re-circulated to make it dirt free and re-used. After the solvent is drained, the clothes are passed through warm air. The lasting smoke and residue solvent are steamed by warm air and compressed over cooling coils. If there is any moisture content condensed into water during the process it is returned to the tank as distilled solvent.
Thus dry cleaning ensures quality of cleaning; maintain quality of cleaning, color brightness, odor and softness of your clothes. As per the industry now the conventional cleaning system with traditional solvents is getting replaced by safe CO2 (Carbon dioxide) technology. The process is easier, doesn’t require heating garments and gentle to fabric.
